Book Review – The Key to Business and Personal Success by Martyn Pentecost

In Non-Fiction Writing on November 30, 2011 at 11:09

This book is not like any other business or personal development book you will read. Traditional books of this type tend to give a synopsis of the problem, and then a prescribed process to make the particular area work for you. This can make what you do seem a cold and hard place where only numbers and product matter, and where the truth can be far from this view.

The Key: To Business and Personal Success is a book written to delve into the secrets of your psyche, in order that you can identify traits that need to be encouraged as well as to mould you into a fully directed and focused person who is also ready to do battle with the modern marketplace.

In “The Key to Business and Personal Success”, the author has written a set modern parables designed to bring out and deal with the complexity in your nature. It is true that we have many personal facets, and it would make sense that the answers reflect this.

I found this book to be a little difficult to get into as well as being a little strange to begin with. From reading a lot of different types of business and personal development book, I wasn’t used to the descriptive answer as opposed to the prescriptive one. The solutions to developmental questions are hidden within the stories, but what this means is that the answers are more personal. From your own experience, it is possible to formulate a solution easily and this will help you in the areas that you have problems with.

The benefit that this book provides is a challenge to embedded and constrained thought – something that as modern interactive people we should be doing on a daily basis. “The Key to Business and Personal Success” provides a framework for that to happen. The real reason for buying this book, may actually be the fact that you reassess what you want in a personal development or business book.
